About

John Milligan is a solicitor qualified in England and Wales, also admitted in Ireland,  and was for 18 years an EU & competition partner at Clyde & Co LLP London for whom he remains a consultant. He specialises in EU and UK competition law and areas of EU law including public procurement. He also advises on supply and distribution/agency agreements including disputes under English contract law and commercial agency Regulations.

Prior to joining Clyde & Co, John was an associate at the Law Offices of SG Archibald in Brussels.  He studied law at Queen’s University Belfast and completed a Master’s degree (‘Licence spéciale en droit européen’) at the Université Libre de Bruxelles.

John is author of European Union Competition Law in the Airline Industry (Kluwer 2017), co-author of the UK chapter of International Encyclopedia of Agency and Distribution Law (Kluwer Loose-leaf) and has been published or quoted in journals including European State Aid Law Quarterly, European Competition Law Review and Insurance Day.

He has spoken at conferences in the UK and overseas for organisations including IBC, IQPC, Central Law Training and the European Food Law Association.

John is a recommended lawyer by Legal 500, where he has attracted praise for his ‘good knowledge of the law and commercial approach’ (Legal 500 2018)
